John's Letter

Hello everybody! So here it is...

Fire truck
On my way into town today, I was waiting a stoplight, where the oncoming traffic had to turn lane. The fire truck was coming up using my side of the road because the light was red, and there was traffic waiting on the other side. A pickup truck in the oncoming traffic turning lane, turned in front of this fire truck, which had been laying on its horn. The fire truck swerved to avoid the pickup in the pickup accelerated in such a way that it that looked like it was leaning. Stopped in the middle of the intersection to fire truck, blasted its horn at the pickup, and carried on.

Tim & Scott
Well, Tim and Scott came by to visit and we played the dice version of Phase-10, then the card version. Watched a few short films, and hardly played video games (which is a surprise since that’s about all they really seem to want to do). So that was good to have that all at a minimal.

Janel's Grandparents
On Wednesday Janel's grandparents came over to Seattle participating in a seminar about sheds (or something like that). So we met up with Jason and Caroline and the grandparents for a dinner at Jaks.

Friday Double Date
What started as a one night event extended into a weekend. Which may be a good thing? But we are not particularly sure. My friend Pat, and Janel’s friend Darci came up on Friday night to meet and hang out. Darci arrived and we chatted until Pat came up. We feasted at Olive Garden, and played a humorous game of Scattegories. We talked into the night and then Darci went home. Pat stayed the night. The next day, Darci came back because Janel and their friend Kristen were all going out to have lunch at a Mongolian restaurant. They came back and we all talked into the evening. Kristen called up her husband Jay, and he came over for pizza and played Cranium, Sorry, and a card game called poop on your neighbor. This time it was very late, and Darci crashed here too, Pat stayed on another night and Kristen and Jay went home. The four of us had breakfast and headed out about noon. The weekend just escaped.

Sinus or Allergy
On Friday night I started gaining the extra mucus and I knew what was coming…but I made it through pretty well, and slept extra hard on Saturday night (medicated). My back was a little sore that evening too possibly from the way I slept the night before (that tends to happen if I sleep past 8am). By Sunday I began to feel a bit better just stuffy with a slightly irritated throat, but still good.

Semester
So now it is time for a new semester…Last week Janel had finals and had only two classes for three days with the schedule the way it was…leaving Friday a day without classes. She finished with the grades and is relaxing up before the new wave of kids come in. Ugh, it also sounds like one class is going to really be pushing her limits because of what they have been able to get away with last semester…and she has them at the end of the day too…so hopefully Oak Harbor students not be a pain either…bleh.

...and that wraps up the week!
