Weezer - Factoids, Extras & Eggs
Guide, Track Listings
The Blue Album
1. The album was produced by former Cars frontman Ric Ocasek.
2. During the recording of the Blue Album, Jason Cropper left the band and was replaced by Brian Bell, a then-bassist for the band Carnival Art.
3. Mykel & Carli Allan were two sisters who ran various fan clubs, including Weezer's. On the night of July 8, 1997, Mykel and Carli, along with their other sister Tristan left the Weezer show in Denver, CO for the next show in Salt Lake City. Early in the morning of July 9, five years to the day after the very first Weezer show, the car the sisters were travelling in drove off the road, and all three were killed instantly by impact releated head/neck/organ injuries suffered in the resulting crash. The band finished their tour (because that is what they felt the girls would have wanted) and flew back to Utah to attend the funeral.
4. Susanne is the closing theme to the 1995 movie Mallrats.
5. The cover design is said to be derived from The Feelies album Crazy Rhythms.
6. The Deluxe Edition included 7 tracks of rare B-sides and unreleased material. It also included an impressive booklet with all the lyrics and even some background details about the new tracks. The remaining 7 tracks are live acoustic and other variations of songs.
7. Wikipedia mentions that one other song had been recorded for the original release, but does not appear on any edition, called, Getting Up & Leaving (Lyrics).
Make Believe
From spring 2002 - early '03 Weezer recorded 28 demos for possible use on Weezer's fifth album (and uploaded to Weezer.com's audio/visual page - some can still be found on fansites), yet only one "Hold Me" made the actual album. This batch of songs is commonly referred to as the A5 Demos or Album 4.5 (see 19 tracks in Misc, I'm not sure about 1 title, and I don't know the titles of the 8 others). The band decided to start from scratch with a fresh group of songs.
