Nitpicks & Rumors - July

Nitpicks

Pick - Tech3 Satin Black Multi-Function Pen
I love this beast! It has a black ball-point, red ball-point, and 0.5mm pencil (and eraser) rotating option all in one package! I love it. How I managed without one is unbelievable. I really like that I dont need three writing utensils now. Between this and a Yellow Post-it highlighter, I am set!
Gripe - You the Man Now Dog
I am only perpetuating the interst in this useless waste of time on the internet. But really, I hate this kind of
crap. Ever since Clarisa Flockheart and the lame dancing baby annoyance, and the singing hampsters etc. there has been some true overly hyped irritating junk out on the web. Please stop making this make news headlines people! Don''t encourage this! Anyway, check out some of the other stuff here.
Pick - Jackass Crew
With Viva la Bam all wrapped up, there really isn't much out there for a die hard to clasp onto. Heck, what else is left for them to do to one another anyway? Silly question...who can't wait for the next Jackass movie?! Anyway, I figure that I needed one spot where I could quickly access the groups places. Places and sites like
Johnny Knoxville (Jackass, Big Brother) Bam Margera (CKY, Viva la Bam - also has specials, Radio Bam on Sirius), Ryan Dunn (Homewrecker, is Street Dreams a movie?), Steve-O (Wildboyz, Camp Steve-O)
Rumors
Movies
Friends Reunion
This comes from a nice high-up source, so there could be something to this baby. Waxing lyrical with a decision-making pal at Warner last week – actually not far from the old "Friends" stage - I was told that there are early talks between the cast of TV hit "Friends", and the network, to do a telemovie (just one, at this stage). The idea has apparently been on the cards for a while, but some of the cast - Matt LeBlanc apparently turned down the telefilm a few months back, wanting a chance to first prove himself as a solo star (with "Joey"), but now that his spin-off has been canned, he's apparently keen – just wouldn't agree to it. Things have changed though, he says, and suddenly, there's interest. Who knows if it will come off, but it might give Central Perk regulars a nice double-shot of hope.
Scream 4

Things have apparently cooled on the "Scream 4" front. Courteney Cox-Arquette and David Arquette are apparently still attached, but with Arquette "busy with his own films, like The Tripper, and Cox getting some good roles again, it's been left to simmer a little longer", says a source. Another reason for the delay is "the script, there isn't one. There's only a treatment. Until they know who is going to return for the movie too – for instance, Neve Campbell is still undecided – they probably won't begin on a script [either]". The Weinstein Co is apparently super keen to do another one though, so it will happen – just not for a while yet.
Shaun of the Dead 2
At the "Hot Fuzz" panel last weekend, Edgar Wright mentioned that you'll probably never – as disappointing as it may be – see a sequel to "Shaun of the Dead". Wright doesn't see a need for a sequel, and essentially confirmed that he doesn't want to be involved in any follow-up.
Super Troopers 2
Comedy troupe Broken Lizard have finally announced production saying that the film will – as they always intended – be a prequel set in the 1970's, with them playing the father's of the characters they played in the original.
Superman Sequel
The Hollywood Reporter said that Bryan Singer told fans at San Diego's Comic-Con International that he has already had talks with Warner Bros. about directing a sequel, to hit theaters in summer 2009. A tasty bit of news from the Warner compound on the just-announced "Superman" sequel. Apparently the character of General Zod will be a major focus of the new film, and like he did with the main role, Singer isn't ruling out casting an unknown in the role. The studio apparently likes Jude Law for the role – previously played by Terence Stamp in the earlier films – but some are suggesting finding a fresh face to play the villainous part. Told that Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor is supposed to return for the film, but they haven't worked out for "how much" of the film he'll be around for.
Television
Camp Steve-O
USA Network has greenlit Camp Steve-O, a half-hour reality project starring Jackass' Steve-O as the head of a boot camp designed to "de-wussify" the men of America.
NBC Offers at NetFlix
In what's being touted as a first-of-its-kind promotion, NBC is making the premiere episodes of the new fall series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Kidnapped available on DVD via NetFlix — starting Aug. 5, a full six weeks before their broadcast bows. The hope is that this lark will generate (deserved, I must opine) word-of-mouth buzz for both series. Or at least make people think twice before putting The Shaggy Dog on their NetFlix queues instead.
David Fincher
David Fincher, the director of the best movie ever made Fight Club is developing a new comedy series for FX. The story is about a psychologist who becomes a hot item among the Hollywood elite because of his tendency to be brutally honest. M*A*S*H* writer Larry Gelbart is signed on to executive produce.
