Comments: B (2.19.07) Like the latest Grisham, the last Crichton book I remember reading was Congo, and I thought it sucked. But I was pleasantly surprised with this one despite the criticisms, and whereas my interpretation of a techno-thriller cheapens its value, I kind of liked it. Gerard rocks. The endings were not as strong as they could hae been, but it is ok. The book really brings to light issues to think about. The Authors Note has some great things to say about the ridiculousness of gene patents (with an example of SARS progress slowed due to fear of genome ownership) and the section about human tissue collections, at least be sure and check that part out. The CD's also had an interview with Crichton about the book.
