Nitpicks & Rumors - February

Nitpicks
Pick - SwissCard Lite Onyx
The SwissCard Lite Onyx has the following same features as the SwissCard Classic; 1. Letter Opener/Blade, 2. Scissors, 3. Ruler (cm/in), 4. Protractor, 5. Stainless Steel Pin, 6. Toothpick, 7. Tweezers, 8. Ballpoint Pen. They both have a screwdriver, except that the SwissCard Lite Onyx has the Quattro Screwdriver, and instead of including a nail file, it has an LED Light and a Magnifying Glass!
Pick - Costco Carwash
"Costco plans to test a new business this year when it opens its first carwash. The automated, drive-through carwash will operate outside the retailer's warehouse on Fourth Avenue in Seattle with an opening planned for late spring. Tentative plans call for members to receive a fullservice car wash, including tire shine, for a price in the $7 to $8 range."
Pick - Bolthouse Farms Blue Goodness Fruit Smoothie
A mix of blueberries, blackberries, elderberries, and blended with apples and bananas. Pimped as high in antioxidants, rich in B vitamins, boost of fiber to reduce fatigue, and no sugar added (only natural sugar). I tried it out as I had picked up the Protein Mocha Cappuccino for Janel (it had all kinds of vitamins and whey, thought it might taste ok, and be healthy?).
Pick - Sahale Snacks-Ksar Blend
As another taste test, I tried this snack mixture of pistacio nuts, pumpkin seeds (pepitas), dried figs, sesame seeds, moroccan harissa spices and honey. Not too shabby.
Pick - Project Playlist
By pure randomness I happened upon a friends friends MySpace page that contained this cool little widget, and I thought...no way...does it really? Sure enough, it does. What does it do? you pick out music and it places it into a player that you can place anywhere, and update any time. To see what I mean, click "PP" on the hyperlionks listed on the right to see the posting of some music I like at the moment.
Pick - Pentel 120 A3DX 0.5mm A315
I have always had one within reach since '95, and so far (other than my favorite cross pen/pencil) nothing can replace it. The Pentel 120 A3DX 0.5mm A315A Black Barrel Sensi-Grip Automatic Drafting Pencil has been through short stories and job interviews, and I still love using it.
Gripe - Superbowl Ads
Pathetic. There was a good chunk of old ads reused, and then every other ad had 80 year-olds in them. What the heck?
Pick - SModcast
Kevin Smith & Scott Mosier have started a podcast of their own called Smodcast. Which is cool, I like it. but what is really cool is that the first topic they hit on (on their first episode), Scott mentions that he reads The Week Magazine. How cool is that! I love that magazine.

Burnout Dominator (X)
While it retains a number of the gameplay modes and features that made previous Burnout offerings great, Dominator will do away with the recent "traffic-checking" innovation and won't feature a crash mode of any kind...will include burnouts (exhausting a full turbo boost meter in one go), and the need to avoid rather than very deliberately slam into traffic...an all-new maniac mode will task you with stringing together multiple burnouts to form combos, which, as we can tell you from experience, is every bit as difficult as it sounds. Other gameplay modes confirmed for Burnout Dominator at this time include road rage, burning lap, race, eliminator, and drift and boost challenges.
