Jack Torrance is a temperamental writer who is trying to rebuild his life (and his family's) after his alcoholism and volatile temper cause him to lose his teaching position at a prestigious New England preparatory school. Having given up drinking, he accepts a job as a winter caretaker at a large, isolated Colorado resort hotel with a gory history. (Wiki)
Review: C (6.20.07) With a rubbed down foil cover (only image available is the black color of hair around a head...no face or anything else,) the publisher Signet, with the number 451 E7872 and a pricetag of $2.50, and a well known title..what else would one expect. I borrowed the book from insistant neighbors after talking about the cell. It is written pretty good..a dark story...light on the scary side...but entertaining. It was King's third published novel, and first hardback bestseller, the film based on the book was directed by Stanley Kubrick, in 1980.
