In 1947 The Crab with the Golden Claws was a stop motion-animated feature film, based on the book. The from 1958 - 1962 there was an animated television series with 104 five-minute episodes. Adapted by Charles Shows and translated into French by Greg (Michel Regnier), then editor-in-chief of Tintin magazine. This series has been criticised for differing too greatly from the original books and for its poor animation. The series led to the 1969 animated film release, Tintin and the Temple of the Sun, based on the books, which also led to the 1972 animated film. A second animated television series ran for three seasons between 1991-1992 featuring 21 of the stories as closely storywise and artistically as possible. Steven Spielberg, a lifelong fan of The Adventures of Tintin will direct a movie adaptation with (another lifelong fan) Peter Jackson, another lifelong fan.

For the absolute longest time there were only 21 books in the "official" US cannon. As of September 2007, in the Land of the Soviets & the new updated Tintin & the Alph-Art were added leaving out the controversal Tintin in the Congo and raising the US Official Cannon to 23! Since they already exist (though rare) I would also like to see the 3 books Lake of Sharks, the Golden Fleece, and the Blue Oranges. This would make a total of 27 books. Additionally, like to see that the deleted pages be inserted back in. If possible I would also wish that they extend one step further than that and create 3 more books based off of the stage plays for Tintin in India the Mystery of the Blue Diamond, The Disappearance of Mr. Boullock, and an adaptation of the novel by Frederic Tuten, Tintin in the New World (received Herge's permission shortly before his death). This would make the total number of books at 30.
Then at this point there are some lingering snitbits about, such as the 5 page depiction of the Apollo XII Moon Landing, the 26 page 1999 short Destination World, which was approved by Hergé’s beneficiaries in recognition of Tintin's 70th Anniverary, & the Making of Sections included in some books (Mission to the Moon, Secret of the Unicorn Red Rackham's Treasure, & the world of the Inca). Herge also had a few pages of an idea "Tintin and the Thermozéro," but was scrapped, contemplated to be third film, and scrapped again. Throw that into a book and maybe even a fan collection to bring that total to 32 books. Make that 3 big volumes, mix in a little more commentary, 1983's the World of Hergé, and 2001's Complete Companion and bam, what a wonderful collection.
Some of the fan created collection of segments include; Yves Rodier's contributions (other than with the Alpha-Art); 1. Freelance Reporter (1957) - 3 page piece about how Tintin got his first major reporting job and went to the USSR. 2. A Day at the Airport (Date Unkown) - a page loosely based on a Herge location idea (and scrapped), where here, General Alcazar is shot by Doctor Muller. 3. The Witches (or Sorcerers) Lake (Unknown date) - 7 pages set before Tintin in Tibet about a monster in the local lake. 4. A half page extra (27b) for Tintin in Tibet. Harry Edwood made a few pages of "The Elves of Marlinspike" as a Christmas present to fans, a few pages of "The Voice of the Lagoon," and the following fictional covers, 1. The Rock of Kangaroos, 2. The O-Light Project, 3. Stopover in Biarritz, 4. The Petrified Heroes, 5. Wagg in Luxembourg, & 6. The Shipwreck of the Unicorn. Other Creations include "Tintin & the Lost City of Atlantis," the four page "Tintin & the Mysterious Visitor (2004)," Conlan's 32 page "Tintin & the Flute of the Wendigo" which is part 1 of 2 with part 2 being a work in progress 7 pages called, "Tintin in Australia."
