John's Letter

Janel
Last Saturday Janel and I attended a wedding with one of her teacher friends. I met some of her other workers, and we had a pretty good meal. On Monday she went in to work because now she is also in charge of helping plan the new learning communities (or whatever that program is called). And it hailed a lot! We watched the movie Ladder 49, and relaxed on her two days of vacation. She left Thursday morning for the FBLA conference.

Sunday & Dinner Train
On Sunday at we just relaxed. We watched the video from next-door, read through the newspaper, checked out the free lunch (although it was bagels and broccoli)…and then we celebrated our anniversary on the dinner train. We had a table for four all to ourselves. The two servers in our car were engeged to be married and both were entertaining. Janel had the chicken, and I had a steak (we shared...and then she had my mashed potatoes, and I had her rice). We tasted some wines at the stop (they were ok, but then, like we are professionals). Chatted with a few couples there. Then we had the chocolate tort on the way back. All in all, a delightful time. Let's see and the train itself? We were on the Columbia Winery (Dining/Bar) Car. According to the flyer it says it was "built in 1938 by the Budd Company for the Santa Fe Railroad, it was used in service from Chicago to Kansas City until 1971. In 1988 it was purchased by WCRC and refurbished. There were only two of these cars ever built and the Columbia Winery is the only one left."





Sedgewick Rd
I have finished entering the basic level of information about the 209 markets and their 40% of newspapers into a gigantic Excel sheet(s) and will actually be able to start working with rate cards as they come in per newspaper. I will be entering in the ROP’s, and maybe by the end of my internship I will be able to understand the real estate entries (which is Celest says is very handy to know, especially since not many people know it). This week I'm also supposed to read my first POV. When I understand about it better I'll explain it to you guys.

This Weekend
So, when Janel comes back tonight I will be out at a bachelor party (Paul, a guy from Tony Roma’s). Next Saturday is his big day, and its also the same day as Collin’s 2nd birthday too.

I believe that is everything at the moment too.
