Factoids: 1. The sub-plot involving the monkey theft, and a few whole lines of dialog, are taken directly from Kevin Smith's comic "Chasing Dogma," which detailed Jay and Silent Bob's journey from New Jersey to Illinois in between Chasing Amy and Dogma. 2. The canyon setting for the diner scene is the same location used for the filming of many episodes of "Star Trek" (1966), most notably the episode "Arena" where Kirk fights the Gorn, the giant green lizard. As a further homage to that episode, the diner in the scene has a sign over the door which identifies it as "The Arena Diner." 3. The medical company that Jay and Silent Bob break into is called "Provasic". This is the name of the "Miracle Drug" in The Fugitive. (IMDB, Moviemistakes)
Comments: B. (8.25.01, Theater) Believe it or not, I found the ticket stub in which noted my first viewing of this film. I saw it at the Cascade Mall at 10:30pm on a Saturday night, spending $7.50 on hard earned cash. I was eagerly ready for this film, and enjoyed it all. It's not that good of a movie, but it wasn't intended to be, so I liked it. As for DVD's, Kevin Smith packs an excellent amount of content into a DVD release. From extras, introductions and eggs they contain quite a crackerjack box of surprises that I like to pick through. With the X edition of Clerks out, a new edition of Mallrats...is it a matter of time before Strikes Back gets a boost again?
