Factoids, Extras & Eggs:
1. A sound engineer working on the album misheard the Mexican slang phrase "órale" in one of the songs and transcribed "Odelay." Beck liked the name, and used it.
2. The cover photo shows a Komondor (a rare Hungarian breed of dog with thick matted hair) jumping over a hurdle.
3. On the Deluxe release, I was excited because 14 of the 19 new tracks I had previously noted as "Non-US Bonus Tracks, Singles, B-Sides & Rarities." "Gold Chains" is a new track to me as I was unaware of its existence. I wasn't expecting to see "Thunder Peel" since it has already been released on an older album, granted this is a newer version, and then I had three of the remixes noted, but did not expect any remixes to be on this album. Regretably, "Diskobox" was on the UK & Japanese albums as a bonus track, but is missing from this deluxe release. I was also surprised that "Somewhere Far Along," recorded in the Odelay sessions, was not included. I know "Buried Alive" and The Little Drum Machine Boy were recorded for other albums, but it would have been nice to have them here too. And lastly, "
Two-Bit Cares" was not included, but I am not sure that any of the radio station played tunes are in Becks recorded catalogs.
4. Beck started to record a number of tracks with Tom Rothrock and Rob Schnapf of Bong Load, but then decided to work with the Dust Brothers instead. Three songs from these Bong Load sessions have been released; Ramshackle, Feather In Your Cap, and Brother.
5. Clock, Electric Music & the Summer People, Lemonade, Brother & Burro are 5 of the 8 tracks released on the not-so-commercially available album, "B Side Collection - Stray Blues."
6. The Skip James Cover, Devil Got My Woman, was recorded at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis before they closed their doors.
7. On Burro Beck brought in the Mariachi band, Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cana.
