Factoids: (
IMDB, Moviemistakes)
1. The melody for "The Second Star to the Right" was originally written for Alice in Wonderland (1951) for a song that was to be called "Beyond the Laughing Sky."

2. In the original play, Hook loses his right hand, but the Disney artists felt that would limit his actions too much, and switched the hook to the left hand.
3. This was the final Disney film in which all nine members of the Nine Old Men worked together on it as directing animators.
4. It was the last full-length Disney animated film distributed by RKO. All of Disney's films after early 1954 would be distributed by Buena Vista, as well as all of the post-1954 re-releases of his earlier films.
5. Though the film was extremely successful, Walt Disney himself was dissatisfied with the finished product. He felt that the character of Peter Pan was cold and unlikable.
6. In the original 1911 novel, Nana was a Newfoundland, not a St. Bernard.
7. The film beget multiple spinoffs in various forms, including, but not limited to: Peter Pan's Flight (a dark ride found at some Disney parks) a sequel some fifty years later, Return to Neverland, and 2007's Peter Pan III.
Comments: C. (3.16.07, Own) I never saw this Disney film. I saw some parts, but what I saw seemed to kid-like than the other Disney films. It also seemed a little too silly goofy for me, fight scenes with Hook etc. Die hard fans will note that the commentary track and Peter's Playful Prank Storybook have been recycled from the 2002 Special Edition version. The Making of Peter Pan was also previously available on the 2002 Special Edition and 1998 Laser Disc release as well as elements used in the commentary track. Ultimate Disney also noted how silly the English Read-Along - Peter Pan addition is wasting space, what doe it do? Essentially it is a subtitle track to the movie indicating which character is speaking...and this couldn't have been placed on the first disc because why (now it just uses space on disc 2 having the whole movie residing here too)? Ultimate Disney made the observation that this is the weakest platinum release for bonus content, and went on further to say that they could have included more material like; 1. the 1951 The Walt Disney Christmas Show (tie-in), 2. Walt's inspiration, Paramount's Black & White 1924 Peter Pan (available on the French version), 3. A few Featurette and documentary ideas sounded good too, like something with or about Bobby Driscoll, the Disneyland attraction, or JM Barrie, 4. Trailers & Advertisements, 5. 2002's Pirate Treasure Hunt Game, 5. More live action footage, additional deleted material (like "Never Smile at a Crocodile).
